CHALLENGE SONOMA ADVENTURE ROPES COURSE (CSARC) is gearing up for exhilarating ropes course experiences! You are invited to participate in one of two 4-day special CSARC GUIDE training to be offered March 16-19 and April 13-16 in the Sonoma Mountain redwood forest! A challenge course involves a selection of low and high climbing elements and ropes course activities enabling participants to grow at both team and individual levels by exploring leadership and communication, collaboration, problem-solving and coaching. Learn to belay, set up and tear down high and low ropes events, facilitate team-building initiatives, and lead local school groups, sports teams, and professional staff through a day in the trees at CSARC!

Participants in the training must be at least 15 years old.  Current and emerging trainers range in age from 17-81. Whether you are new to the outdoors entirely or a veteran climber, you are welcome and encouraged to join in the training and work with a diverse staff of emergent leaders with a love for outdoor adventure. Working at CHALLENGE SONOMA ADVENTURE ROPES COURSE has opened doors for individuals of many ages to pursue work in outdoor recreation, non-profit management, higher education, sports medicine and beyond.

Training begins on Thursday, March 16, with an orientation from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and is followed by three days at CSARC on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 17-19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and again on April 13 from 6-9p.m.and followed by 3 days 14-16 from 8:30 to 4:30. The fee for this comprehensive and worthwhile training is $125.00 and includes 50 hours of total training and shadowing, after which graduates will be eligible for an on-call paid position as a CSARC ropes leader.

Established in 1984, CSARC is a non-profit group of dedicated community volunteers serving Sonoma Valley school children and youth-at-risk.  At the heart of this far-reaching organization are CSARC’s leaders and skilled trainers who engage over 3,500 participants annually in unequaled outdoor experience that promote self-awareness, inspire learning, and offer strategies to success.
